Online games have become a popular pastime for people from all walks of life. It does not matter what people believe, there is no denying that computer games are the wave of the future. The Internet has already allowed people to play games for free and this has opened up a whole new world of fun.
Online games are video games that are either partially or completely played via the Internet or some other computer network. There are many different types of online games including online racing games, puzzle games and even free-roaming virtual environments that players enter into in order to have some fun. This type of gaming is known as massively multi-player online games or MMOGs. These online games allow millions of people to take on the role of a part-time gamer and fight for virtual real-world glory against other players from around the world.
In this main article we will take a look at the latest trends for online games and how they affect today’s society. First of all, there is the issue of player versus platform; this is an ongoing debate that has been brought about by the introduction of broadband Internet in general. When playing browser games, whether it be a multiplayer browser game, a first person shooter or a role-playing video games, one must work to win the game, while doing so, a player is not given the ability to shoot his or her opponents.
Due to this feature, many gamers are choosing to play free poker online games that allow them the ability to “farm” kills, which basically means that they get more experience or the ability to level up their character faster by performing tasks such as capturing or killing other players. Some of the most popular and well-known MMORPGs that allow this type of farming are Minecraft, DayZ and World of Warcraft. Not long ago, the leader of Minecraft, Erickson indicated that he would like to see the in-game competition is more dynamic and allow for different degrees of difficulty. I believe this is exactly what he was referring to when he said that there should be some sort of ranking system and a way for a player to really show off his or her skills.
In addition to this, I believe that video games should be more realistic, and as such, they should allow the player to make certain decisions that could have real world consequences. For instance, in a first-person shooter like Call of Duty, the player is required to think on his or her feet. This is a difficult task because of the nature of the game, and the environment the player is placed in. Another problem with first-person shooters is the unrealistic graphics, but this is not the only thing holding back the development of these type of online games. It is simply a matter of time before these first-person video games are introduced into the gaming market.
These are only some of the issues I believe are holding back the introduction of first-person shooter games into the video gaming market. The bottom line is, it would be a huge step forward for online games if developers were given the ability to create these types of games. Unfortunately, we’re not quite there yet, but there’s certainly room for improvement. In the next article in this series, I’ll discuss why I feel this is the case.
